The Koa Gallery is a working visual art laboratory for the campus and the community at large. Dedicated to serving as a learning tool and resource for creative excellence, the Koa Gallery shows the best of Hawai‘i’s fine art masters and contemporary artists of Hawai‘i. The Koa Gallery is a catalyst, and has been bringing art and people together for over 25 years.
Koa Gallery Offerings
The Koa Gallery offers an exciting exhibit schedule of 8 - 10 shows a year which rotates every 4 weeks. Art in the Lama Library and the Ka ‘Ikena Dining Room rotates three times a semester. Every spring, the Koa Gallery designates a Koa Award to an accomplished local artist for lifetime achievement in the visual arts. In addition to the exhibition, the Koa Award ceremony and fundraiser dinner allows the community to come together to honor and celebrate the creative power of art. The Koa Gallery also offers talks by artists and scholars in the gallery, and has been working with the Student Congress to purchase works of art for the KCC campus collection. Lastly, the gallery coordinates an annual non-credit art workshop series Center Your Creativity during the summer for anyone interested in infusing art, creativity and the intuitive spark into their daily lives.
